About Me
Welcome to my website. I am Claire (she/her) a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (#10763). I hold a Master's degree both in Counselling Psychology and in Education from the University of British Columbia. I have an extensive background in teaching (K-12 and Post Secondary) as well as clinical counselling. My career has included working with children, teens, families and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
As a mother and now grandmother, I bring personal experience and understanding about life's complicated journey. This allows me to walk alongside you as you create your own pathways and navigate your challenges. When I am not counselling, I love being in the outdoors, whether walking, skiing, biking, gardening, or being with family. I believe in the restorative power of just being fully present in the natural environment.
My Approach
My approach is tailored to the needs and context of each client using warm understanding. My goal is to provide a safe space for the exploration of emotional needs and nervous system responses, landmark events and past experiences. I bring a wealth of experience and knowledge and have continued my learning in specific courses including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, Synergetic Play Therapy (SPT), Gottman Relationship Theory and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.
While I will always be committed to continuing my education, I also know that the counselling relationship is the foundation for change. Together we will walk alongside each other in the process of growth and change.
